Solomon Trophy 2012 - Island Information

Croquet and so much more…..

Bald Head Island is a great place to enjoy nature. The Island’s unique environment includes marshes and creeks and a large maritime forest as well as 14 miles of public beaches. Bald Head is also a nesting site for loggerhead turtles. There are several nature trails through the maritime forest as well as the Kent Mitchell Nature Trail off Federal Road.

The Bald Head Island Conservancy offers bird walks and a whole range of nature programs.

The Riverside Adventure Company and Coastal Urge rent bicycles and kayaks and also have some tour options. Surfing, paddle boarding and sailing are also available.

Forty-two public beach walkways allow easy access to the Island’s 14 miles of beach. Fishing and crabbing are popular past-times.

Don’t miss Old Baldy, the oldest lighthouse in North Carolina. There is a small fee to climb the lighthouse and visit the adjoining museum.
