Bald Head is also a nesting site for loggerhead turtles. There are several nature trails through the maritime forest as well as the Kent Mitchell Nature Trail off Federal Road.

The Riverside Adventure Company and Coastal Urge rent bicycles and kayaks and also have some tour options. Surfing, paddle boarding and sailing are also available.
Forty-two public beach walkways allow easy access to the Island’s 14 miles of beach. Fishing and crabbing are popular past-times.
Don’t miss Old Baldy, the oldest lighthouse in North Carolina. There is a small fee to climb the lighthouse and visit the adjoining museum.
