We are starting a new opportunity for all. In mid-August we, the Bald Head Island Croquet Club, will compete as a team with a team from the Pinehurst Croquet Club. Players from our team will be matched with players of their team with like handicaps. The objective is to excite players from all handicap levels, especially with high handicaps, but below 21. This will be an annual event with the first meeting of the teams hosted on our famous and impeccable greenswards on Bald Head Island. Next year we will meet and compete in Pinehurst. A trophy will be retained each year by the winning team. While this is billed as two teams competing with each other, the emphasis is fun, learning, and camaraderie with like minded people. There will be singles and doubles matches. This is a non-sanctioned tournament – handicaps cannot be lowered or raised, though one can with focus, likely improve, perhaps.
